Snapping Turtle Coffee Roasters is pleased to announce a Grand Opening date of Saturday, May 27th, 2017! Please stop by between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and see what we have to offer.
So, what is this "Snapping Turtle" business anyway, and what can we expect?
Snapping Turtle is predominantly a small-batch artisanal coffee roastery, which means we will be roasting and packaging specialty-graded coffee beans on-site. The packages on our shelves will contain super-duper freshly roasted whole bean coffee. For maximum freshness and flavour, we recommend grinding just before brewing, but if you don't have a grinder at home, or don't want to grind your own beans - no problem! We are more than happy to grind them for you before you leave.
Snapping Turtle is not a café. We have a pretty tiny space (and the roaster's hogging a bunch of it), so we won't have tables or chairs. We will brew our own beans though, so you can come in and grab a 12 oz. or 16 oz. cup to-go! It's also a great way to sample the beans before you buy them. And for those of us who like a little something sweet with our coffee, we'll have a few delicious treats as well. (Not just any treats, by the way - these are handmade by someone in town... more on that later!)
Tea Drinkers, we didn't forget about you!
We'll be adding a specialty tea to our menu in June. It's called "Coffee Cherry tea" or "Cascara tea" (not to be confused with cascara bark, which is something else entirely), and it's made from steeping the dried cherries of a coffee plant in water. For purists, this is technically a tisane. Whatever you call it, we think it's delicious! Just to be clear - it does have caffeine, but tastes nothing like coffee.
So that lets you in on the basics.
We hope to add products to our store throughout the year, and we definitely have some exciting ideas up our sleeves. In the beginning though, we'll start simple. That way, we can focus on just a few things and really do them well. Our goal is to offer you quality, comfort and deliciousness in every cup!
A big thank you...
To everyone who helped us along the way, whether it was cleaning, painting, construction, sampling, creative work, maneuvering a giant roaster in from the sidewalk, or several of the above - you know who you are. ;)
